Northern Virginia and the DMV
Whole home softening and filtration, plus reverse osmosis at the kitchen tap. Sized to your house from your water report and priced before anyone visits.
Most water problems in Northern Virginia and the DMV come down to one of these three. Each one is treated differently, which is why the assessment comes first.
Most tap water in the region arrives moderately hard to hard. DC Water's delivered water averaged 126 mg/L of hardness in 2024, about 7 grains per gallon. Fairfax Water puts its supply at 5 to 10 grains, and WSSC's Potomac plant water runs 120 to 130 mg/L. That is enough to leave scale on fixtures and spots on glassware.
Most of the region disinfects with chloramine rather than free chlorine. The Washington Aqueduct, which supplies DC and Arlington, adds ammonia to form chloramine before the water leaves the plant, and Fairfax Water uses it from July through March before switching to free chlorine each spring. Chloramine holds steady in the pipes instead of gassing off, so the taste at the tap tends to stay put.
The white film left when a drop dries on a dark countertop is dissolved calcium and magnesium, the same minerals behind the hardness numbers above. The region also monitors PFAS. DC Water's 2024 sampling found PFOA averaging 0.3 parts per trillion and PFOS 1.7, under the EPA limit of 4.0, and Loudoun Water's Trap Rock plant reported neither detected in 2025.
Chlorine, chloramine and PFAS
You can usually taste it.
Most people cannot.
Nobody can.
Which is why the assessment starts with what your utility publishes about Northern Virginia and the DMV water, not a guess.

Well systems are sized and priced separately.

The unit shown is one configuration. Yours is sized after the assessment.
We make the process easy from start to finish. First, we review your water concerns, then recommend the right solution, and finally install your system with care so you can enjoy better water with confidence.
We discuss your home's water source, concerns, and goals to better understand what type of filtration or treatment solution may be right for you.
We explain your options clearly, answer your questions, and recommend a system based on your water needs, home setup, and budget.
Installation happens where the water enters the house, with the reverse osmosis unit under the kitchen sink. Before we leave you know how the system runs, what it needs from you, and the water is ready to use.

About Capital Water Pros • Your Trusted Water Filtration Partner
Capital Water Pros installs whole home softening, filtration and reverse osmosis for homes across Northern Virginia and the greater DMV. The price is published here before anyone calls you, and if something about your house would move it, you hear that in writing before any work is booked. What gets recommended follows the utility's own report and what your fixtures are showing, not a sales target.

If yours is not here, ask on the call. There is no wrong question about your own water.
We call and go through your water with you. Then you get the system we would put in and the exact price. The assessment is free.
The number we put in writing is the number. If something in your house would change it, you hear about it before any work starts.
Wherever the water enters the house, usually a basement, a utility room or a garage.
The system goes where the main water line enters the house, usually a garage, basement or utility area. The footprint is small, about that of a small chest freezer, and most homes already have the space. The assessment confirms it before anything is booked.
Keep salt in the brine tank, the salt tank that sits beside the system. Check the level about once a month and add a bag of softener salt when it runs low. That is the whole routine, and the setup notes cover it.
Yes. A private supply changes through the year, so it gets sized differently from a municipal one. We handle both.
Name and number is all the form takes. The rest is a short call.
